On October 2nd Diane Rutter led an entertaining Harvest service designed to make us reflect on the meaning of Harvest these days when we have little immediate call to refer back to the original significance of the agricultural year. There was a generous collection of modern foodstuff for the local Food Bank, largely in the form of tins and toiletries rather than the fruits of the field. Before a communal Harvest Supper of homemade paté, cheese and a delicious cake, we unveiled a plaque installed in memory of Malcolm Sadler, without whose efforts over nearly sixty years this Chapel would no longer have existed. This was rightly celebrated with a glass of Prosecco in his honour.
The next post will be a copy of the obituary of Malcolm we wrote for The Inquirer shortly after his death.
